COURSES AT THE CHASTAIN SCHOOL AT ST. JOHN
The Chastain School at St. John offers a unique approach to caring for and teaching infants and toddlers called “Continuity of Care”. It is designed to promote stability, familiarity, and trust as an extension of your own family’s loving care.
The preschool provides a curriculum based education to prepare children ages 3-5 years old for Kindergarten and beyond. We concentrate on the social, emotional, physical, cognitive and language developmental needs of the children. Learning activities are centered around hands on experiences and are based on the children’s current interest.
After school care is provided for children in Pre-Kindergarten through 5th grade. We provide transportation from High Point, Montgomery, Heards Ferry and Jackson Primary to our school. We have a safe, enriching, and relaxed atmosphere for our children each day.
All school-aged children in the community are welcome to participate in our outstanding summer camp program. Each week has a unique theme and is designed to be a fun filled learning experience. Children enjoy creative play, swimming, fun field trips, special visitors, music, sports, games and a variety of other activities.
Once a week, toddlers & preschool children attend chapel that is led by our Pastor Hannah and the SJUMC Children’s Ministry Director Tiffany Stout.
Private Spanish Lessons for preschool children (3-5 yrs) are offered weekly and taught by Ms. Oralia. This course is taught on Tuesdays so the children experience a complete immersion in Spanish.
We are very excited to introduce our new technology lab at TCS! When we first began talking about technology and how we could incorporate it into our program, the one thing that was a priority is that the technology did not take away from the interactions and relationships between the children, their peers and their teachers
As a part of our curriculum for our older toddlers and preschoolers, we have created an extension of the monthly theme and country that we explore. Twice a week the children go into our Window into the World classroom and learn in more detail about that month’s theme and country. It is a hands on learning environment where there are activities, games and artwork.
